Throughout her academic career, Sophia had the opportunity to work with children and adults across various settings, including private practices, schools, and rehabilitation hospitals. After graduating, she provided speech therapy at a multidisciplinary Early Intervention center in New York City, working closely with toddlers and their families to promote carryover of communication and feeding skills to the home environment. Sophia then went on to work for the New York City Special Education District, in which she enjoyed providing individualized child-led therapy to K-5th grade students with various diagnoses and disorder areas ranging from Autism, Down syndrome, developmental language disorder, expressive/receptive language delays, fluency disorders, speech sound disorders, executive functioning, gestalt language processing, and AAC use. As a Spanish speaker, Sophia enjoys working with bilingual families and providing services in Spanish when needed. Sophia is most passionate about establishing a strong rapport with children and their families and including them in every step of the therapy plan to make speech therapy both fun and effective.  Sophia strongly believes in play-based learning. In her free time, Sophia loves spending time at the beach, running, reading, traveling to new places, and going to the movie theater!
