Sophia then went on to work for the New York City Special Education District, in which she enjoyed providing individualized child-led therapy to K-5th grade students with various diagnoses and disorder areas ranging from Autism, Down syndrome, developmental language disorder, expressive/receptive language delays, fluency disorders, speech sound disorders, executive functioning, gestalt language processing, and AAC use. As a Spanish speaker, Sophia enjoys working with bilingual families and providing services in Spanish when needed. Sophia is most passionate about establishing a strong rapport with children and their families and including them in every step of the therapy plan to make speech therapy both fun and effective. Sophia strongly believes in play-based learning. In her free time, Sophia loves spending time at the beach, running, reading, traveling to new places, and going to the movie theater!
